In the context of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union, the Minister for the Presidency, Pedro Silva Pereira and the Minister of Interior, Rui Pereira will be sponsoring a High Level Conference on Legal Immigration that will be held on 13-14 September 2007, in Lisbon, at Hotel Sheraton.

With the purpose of ensuring access to the conference by the media, journalists wishing to attend the event are requested to apply for accreditation by filling in the appropriate form at http://colaboracao.mai-gov.info until 12 September.
This conference will be a good opportunity to launch an open debate on the development of a global approach to migrations: a global policy for a global problem.
Under debate will be the problems of legal immigration, integration of immigrants and the contribution of migrations to development.
Given the complexity of the issues at stake, we are counting on an in-depth debate between Government members and senior officials as well as high level experts and academics specialising in this area.
