Informal Meeting of Ministers for Employment and Social Affairs
5, 6 and 7 July, Guimarães

The central theme will be the improvement in the coordination of social and employment policies at a European level, both from the point of view of policy content and the methods and tools available. In the present European framework, coordination processes are among the top instruments available for us to produce significant concrete results for all.

In the last ten years, Europe has changed and so have the economic, social and institutional challenges in front of it. Among the important developments were the launch of the European Employment Strategy (Luxembourg, 1997) and later, already within the context of the Lisbon Strategy, the application of the Open Method of Coordination to social affairs. 

A decade has gone by and the processes have matured. It is now essential to look back over the road we have paved and think forward to the horizons that are opening up into the future.

Transport

When arriving at the Oporto airport, the media representatives must go to the welcome desk, where they will be informed on the transport arrangements to the “Pavilhão Multiusos” in Guimarães.

In the Media Centre a schedule with the existing transport to/from hotels recommended by the Organization will be made available.

Parking

A parking place for private vehicles, with limited access, will be provided in the “Pavilhão Multiusos”, Guimarães. The Media representatives planning on using this parking place must contact the Organization. Right next to the Media Centre is the parking place for technical vehicles.
