The State Secretary for Cooperation and Foreign Affairs João Gomes Cravinho is in Brussels today, 10th July, to participate on the first meeting of the Global Forum on Migration and Development, which was promoted by Belgium and will have the presence of King Albert II, the Belgian Prime-Minister, the Secretary General of United Nations and the President of the European Commission.
This meeting sets the beginning of a new global process, whose aim is to discuss more consistent ways to strengthen the positive impacts between migration and development policies. It is a formal debate Forum, which gathers more than 120 Governments as well as regional and international Organisations. It will take into account recommendations from the civil society through an extensive consultation to its representatives.
Meanwhile, the State Secretary also took part yesterday, 9th July, in the presentation of the study on Fragile States, an initiative of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which aims at the adoption of new approach strategies to promote the structural stability in countries experiencing difficulties.
