The president of the Assembly of the Republic, Jaime Gama, accompanied by the minister for the environment, spatial planning and regional development, Francisco Nunes Correia, chaired the opening session of the Business & Biodiversity Conference, which took place at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, in Lisbon, on 12 November.
The conference was held in the ambit of the Portuguese presidency of the Council of the European Union as well as one of the defined priorities: the Business & Biodiversity initiative. The main objective of this initiative is to strengthen the relationship between businesses and biodiversity, thus giving a significant contribution to the protection of biodiversity and to the pursuit of the 2010 Goal of stopping the loss of biodiversity on a local, national, regional and global level.
