This Conference, on October 3-4, aims at giving a contribution to mainstreaming the gender dimension in the Lisbon Strategy in particular in the framework of the preparation of the guidelines for the new cycle 2008-2011.
This will be done in accordance with European Union instruments such as the European Pact for Gender Equality (February 2006) and the Roadmap for Equality between Women and Men (2006-2010).
In this conference we will also focus on the link between gender stereotypes and women’s employability and entrepreneurship in order to, on the one hand, overcome the barriers affecting women’s employability and entrepreneurship and, on the other hand, to empower men in family life for the promotion of economic growth and social cohesion.
Gender stereotypes mark the social representations of women and men and are determinant in building gender inequalities affecting all spheres of life. Gender stereotypes are therefore a transversal issue that should be present in all presentations and debates.
